Staying in touch with people can be difficult in college. Instant Messaging is great, but your parents might not be so computer-savvy. And, you'll probably have one friend who just isn't on IM all the time (strange, we know). Believe us, you don't want your folks yelling at you because, "You never call home!" Nor do you want your family calling you on a Saturday night when you're partying with your friends. Here are some little things you can do to keep in touch with your parents and friends, wherever they might be:

• Send pictures of your room when it's all pretty after you've moved in
• Call home while in front of the Kendade Science Center and wave at them through the library web cam.
• Send pictures of you and your roommate/friend at the Park and Soldiers Monument.
• Leave a card to your roommate on his/her birthday in your mailbox
• Send a postcard to younger siblings/parents of kids you used to baby-sit
• Take your laptop to the dining hall and have a long distance lunch date via instant messager with your parents/sibling/friend back home/friend at another school
• Bring home a South Hadley souvenir
• Buy your family Mt. Holyoke sweatshirts
